I loooooved this concept!! I was trying to do something similar but monthly and I was about to put the idea down until I read this and now I feel inspired to keep it going.

About dndinf a book my advice would be to ask yourself; even if the story is not trapping me at the moment do i want to know what happens at the end or not? and if the answer is yes then give it a chance.

I’m so glad this inspired you to keep going with your idea! A monthly version sounds fantastic—keep at it!

Thank you for the book advice; that’s such a great way to look at it. Sometimes it’s about the journey, but other times it’s the curiosity about the ending that keeps us going. I’ll definitely keep that in mind! Thanks again for your kind words and motivation!

i had never heard of Chappell Roan until I read your post so I googled her. Google said "did you mean your artists favourite artist" like WHAT iconic !!!! I've googled "when can i call myself a writer" so many times, and one day last year I realized two things: 1) i write videos & poetry & diary entries every day that literally makes me a writer and 2) there's an important distinction between "writer" and "author" and I thiiink since I don't have a physical book published I can't call myself the latter yet but I am the former. when people ask "what i do" i always used to say what i did to pay my bills, but since owning the title "writer" and answering those questions with that instead of my day job title, it's given me slightly more confidence to bridge that gap between who i am and who i want to be. 10/10 recommend owning the writer title since you do write!!!

anyways, would love to read "philosophy as art" if you have another link (the link takes me to a notion error page)! and i'm so glad i'm not the only one bingeing pysch hahaha it's so great!!!

I'm so happy you discovered Chappell Roan! She's amazing, right? Your realization about being a writer is spot on—writing daily makes you a writer, and embracing that title is so empowering. You’re absolutely right about the distinction between "writer" and "author," but owning the writer title is a fantastic step.

I'll fix that link for "Philosophy as Art" and get it to you ASAP. And yes, Psych is such a fun binge (no one I know has heard about it!) Thank you for reading and for your lovely comment! x

As someone who also agonizes over being a self-proclaimed writer and tries to find the answer in external sources (I just wrote a whole post about it lol), I'll add on to Google search #1: You write! You are a writer! Keep writing until you believe it!!! <3

I totally get where you're coming from. We can be our own toughest critics sometimes. But you're right - I am a writer! I'll definitely check out your post; it sounds like something I can relate to. Thank you so much for reading!! x

really enjoyed this concept, so unique!! dnfing a book is so hard... i used to struggle with this before and forced myself to sit through boring books that i ended up rating 1/5 (or less). i'm better at it now and usually dnf a book after a couple of chapters if i feel like no spark of interest has been ignited thus far. life is too short to read shitty books!

That's the right way to go about it, instead of DNFing a book within the first 10 pages I'm going to give it a few chapters too! And there are simply way too many books out there to waste time on one we don't like!! Thank you for the recco, I'm going to read it next!! xx

I love your last google search! I always want to listen to all the songs with “rain” in the title on rainy days

This was such a fun read! I'd love to read more of these!

Speaking of reading, I recommend graphic novels! They can be easy reads and absolutely captivating. "Squire" is one I read recently that was beautiful to look at and the story was refreshing but full of rich commentary! A more serious, but realistic one a friend recommended to me was "My Lesbian Experience with Lonliness" which is part of a memoir series

I'm such a completionist that I historically try to finish books I'm not enjoying, but I'm working on rewriting that narrative. Some great books start off slowly (hello, Three Body Problem), so I try to make it until 20-30% of the way through. Sometimes, a particular book might just not be hitting... I try to remind myself I can always come back to it later!

Just finished "Alone With You in the Ether" and LOVED it - my fav read this year. Seems like it kind of fits what you're looking for? I was so engrossed I almost missed my train stop. Short story collections are great when you're having trouble getting into things, too "The Lonesome Bodybuilder", "Bliss Montage", and "Life Ceremony" are some great ones. They're all filled with sort of bizarre stories that are fun to read and make you think!
